Belhaven Brewing Company may have started way back in 1719 when monks had access to clean water and local barley that became the recipes for beer brewing. Throughout its early years up to 1790, the brewery has undergone so many changes based on ownership and market demands. Development of outstanding ales and malts lead to the brewery’s growth and expansion. By 2005, Belhaven Brewing Company is considered to be Scotland’s largest and oldest beer brewing company. Currently, Belhaven Brewery makes ten notable beers. St. Andrew's Ale and Scottish Ale are commonly exported to United States while Belhaven’s Best and Best Extra Cold quickly gained notoriety for their flavors.
