Abita brewing company first came about in the piney woods just 30 miles north of New Orleans back in 1986. In its first year, Abita brewery produced 1, 500 barrels of beer and it has grown since then. Using the fine ingredients of British and North American malted barley, German, American yeast strains, Pacific Northwest hops and excellent quality of water from the Abita Springs, the Abita brewing company regularly produces about 1, 500 barrels of beers and 9, 500 barrels of root beers. Abita brewery takes pride in producing fresh and fine flavors of beers without use of preservatives, additives or stabilizers.
